The Mini was the original creation of Marilyn "The Mini" Connolly in 1998, who saw the need for a local daily paper to fit the everyday needs of the folks in Johnson County.  She saw the need for getting local news and timely public service announce- ments out on a daily basis, as well as a way for businesses to advertise in an affordable manner -- reaching the audiences they need to contact in grocery stores, gas stations, banks, restaurants, hotels, etc.  Marilyn saw the importance of doing this without the customer having to buy anything or subscribe to anything, and, of course, the readers took to the user friendly Mini from the start. 

In June of 2005, Marilyn "The Mini" Connolly decided to take a break from publishing The Mini in order to decide what she wanted to do.  By September she had decided it was time to pass the torch onto the next generation.  She chose Jo Sickler to lead The Mini, and to keep it alive and well to serve the community that had come to depend on it for timely news and announcements, classifieds and advertisements that every one could afford.

With Jo as Publisher, The Mini was BACK !  ...and with some exciting new changes and services !  First she moved The Mini to the CloudPeak.Net Building -- a central downtown location, right across from ACE, America National Bank and First National Bank -- and just two doors up from Sports Lure.  That made it easy for folks to have ready access to The Mini (as well as parking), which had been a problem in the past.  The The Mini now has a web site to compliment it's everyday paper publication in the community so you can contact them 24/7.  On the web site it lists ad rates, sample ads, distribution sites, has it's own online ad maker, job announcement site, area for kids, mini coupons for local store owners and their customers, a place for your testimonials, a Mini Crossword puzzle of the week (which has a prize winner each week!), a place for news tips you can send us if there is breaking news that you want to report or want the community to know about ASAP (like funerals, or other last minute affairs), and of course, a contact page so you can contact us about your account or any other matter you would like to give us feedback on!

And the paper Mini will continue to offer the same great local news, affordable advertising and wide local distribution so that wherever people are waiting and are looking for something to while away the time with something interesting and informative...we plan to have The Mini there in a handy place for them to enjoy and read ... AND OF COURSE SEE YOUR AD!
